English language proficiency

The university’s main language of instruction is English, so those who wish to enroll in a degree program will need to have proven language proficiency. If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the university’s requirement for the TOEFL or IELTS:

  • TOEFL minimum score of 80 for the internet-based test, or 550 for the paper-based test (for undergraduate, master’s and PhD)
  •  IELTS score of at least 6.0 (for undergraduate and master’s)
  •  IELTS score of at least 6.5 (for PhD)

Tuition fees

Tuition fees for international students at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also vary between programs.

The for full-time undergraduate students are HK$140,000 (approximately US$18,000) per academic year.

Tuition fees for master’s students can vary widely depending on your desired program of study. You can compare tuition fees for each program . 

To study a PhD, the average tuition fees range between HK$42,100 (~US$5,400) and HK$84,200 (~$10,700) per academic year. There’s also a registration fee of HK$5,000 (~US$600). .
