Louisiana Tech University has been designated as a Tier One national university by the 2017 U.S. News & World Report college rankings and is the only Tier One national university in the nine-member University of Louisiana System. This university is following its priority of improving the education and development of its students by offering a variety of courses, activities and opportunities.

Louisiana Tech’s notable alumni are especially numerous in elite sport.The most eminent is Karl Malone, a two-time National Basketball Association MVP and long-serving Utah Jazz power forward who returned to Louisiana Tech to coach after retirement.

The university offers undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees. Approximately 84% of students receive some form of financial assistance. They offer three types of scholarships: General, Transfer and Freshman.
