TheUniversity of Kent, the UK’s European university, is one of the country’s mostdynamic universities. Established in 1965, it now has over 20,000 studentsstudying at its various campuses including Canterbury, Medway and Tonbridge inthe picturesque south-east of England and continental-European sites in Athens,Brussels, Paris, and Rome.

 

Kent is a leading university that provides an excellent educationdelivered by world-class researchers. Our reputation for research and academic excellence is confirmed by our success in the most recent ResearchExcellence Framework: Kent is ranked in the top 20 for research intensity inthe Times Higher Education,outperforming 11 of the 24 Russell Group universities. 97% of ourresearch is of international quality and our score for research power hasincreased by 59%, the third largest increase of the top 50 research intensiveuniversities.

 

We have also been awarded gold in the Teaching ExcellenceFramework (TEF). Based on the evidence available, theTEF Panel judged that the University of Kent delivers consistently outstandingteaching, learning and outcomes for its students. It is of the highest qualityfound in the UK*. We recently won the ‘Outstanding Support for Students’category at the 2017 Times HigherEducation (THE) Awards and we are ranked 22nd in the UK by The Guardian University Guide 2018.

 

TheUniversity is a major educational, economic and cultural force throughout itsregion, and our position as the gateway to Europe is reinforced by ourmultinational community: we have students from 157 different nationalities, 40%of our academic and research staff are from outside the UK and our curriculumsupports study and work abroad opportunities. We have global partnerships with many prestigious institutions both inEurope and beyond to include the USA, Malaysia, China, Russia, Hong Kong andJapan. These partnerships offer many opportunities for our students includingexchanges, study visits and work placements, as well as the possibility ofearning a dual degree from Kent and a partner university.
